Phyllodes tumor of the breast is a rare type of breast tumor that affects two types of breast tissue – the connective tissue and lobule and duct tissue. Phyllodes tumors are usually benign but can be cancerous. Women of all ages can be diagnosed with phyllodes tumor of the breast.

Common symptom of phyllodes tumor is a lump in the breast that grows quickly. The lump can be painful or painless.

Phyllodes tumors may be diagnosed during a physical examination, mammogram, breast MRI, ultrasound, or breast biopsy. Treatment for phyllodes tumor usually involves surgery such as a lumpectomy or mastectomy.
