Cancer can be treated in many ways. Christian Hospital uses the most advanced cancer procedures and techniques. Learn more about the different cancer treatments available at the Cancer Care Center at Christian Hospital.
- Surgery: If cancer is localized (found in one area), surgery may be used to remove the cancer and surrounding tissue.
- Radiation: Is used if cancer is localized. Radiation destroys or kills cancer cells. It can be used along with surgery or other cancer treatments.
- Chemotherapy: Is used to treat cancer that has spread to other areas of the body (metastatic). Chemo can be used to cure cancer, stop the spreading or slow down the growth of cancer cells. Chemotherapy can be administered by mouth or by injection and travel through the bloodstream. Chemo can be given after surgery or other cancer treatments to reduce the risk of cancer coming back.
- Immunotherapy: Uses the body’s immune system to fight cancer or slow the growth of cancer cells. This may be combined with chemo or other cancer treatments.
