What is an AngioJet Thrombectomy?

An AngioJet thrombectomy is a procedure where a catheter is placed into the artery where fluid (pressurized saline solution) is disbursed to unblock or remove a blood clot within the blood vessels in the body.

What to Expect During an Angioplasty

During the AngioJet procedure (angioplasty) a catheter is inserted in the artery and guided to the blood clot in the coronary artery. Once the catheter is in place, the cardiologist delivers jets of saline solution to the blood clot and the blood clot is suctioned back through the catheter and removed from the body.

After the procedure, you will be sent to a recovery room where you will stay for 1-2 days after the surgery. The doctor will then tell you how to care for your wound and discharge you from the hospital.
