Despair doesn't need to be an acceptable part of growing older. Anxiety, depression, lack of motivation, and sadness due to grief and loss can be minimized or resolved by effective mental health treatment. Quality of life can be renewed, and feelings of hopelessness can be changed to hope, joy and inner peace.
The Center for Senior Renewal offers an intensive level of mental health treatment without the high cost or inconvenience of inpatient hospitalization. The Center helps senior adults cope with their unique emotional problems and physical challenges that can make life difficult, such as:
- Loss of a spouse, family members or friends
- Difficulty coping with change
- Trouble adjusting to retirement
- Deterioration of mobility and daily living skills
- Loneliness and isolation
- Crying spells and/or explosive anger
- Debilitating problems with grief and loss
- Feelings of anxiety and depression
- Adjusting to declining physical health
- Negative changes in eating and sleeping habits
- Strained family relationships
- A loss of respect from others and even respect for themselves
- A strong sense of hopelessness often accompanied by suicidal thinking
Through group psychotherapy, individual and family therapy as required, and intensive nursing education, clients gain insight into their illnesses and learn effective ways to handle their situations.
Clients receive respect, consideration and the highest quality of care each day. Our mission is to serve our patients and family members with a personal warmth and focus on returning each participant to the peak of their individual capabilities.
The Center for Senior Renewal provides:
- Group therapy with other senior adults struggling with similar issues
- Individual counseling
- Family therapy
- Regular communication with family members
- Regular meetings with assigned case managers
- An ongoing plan for care and support
Assessment and Treatment
Treatment begins with a confidential assessment by a qualified professional. Assessments are by appointment, and are conducted at the Center for Senior Renewal.
The assessment determines the level of care appropriate to each client. Referrals for treatment are based on the client's symptoms and level of severity. Those who could benefit from the Center for Senior Renewal are referred to a physician for further evaluation and, if appropriate, admission to the Center for Senior Renewal for treatment.
Psychiatric treatment plans are determined by a physician, the treatment team and the client, and are tailored to meet each client's unique needs. Every client's treatment is supervised by a physician, who is available to meet one-on-one with clients and their family members on a regular basis. Medications may be prescribed to treat specific symptoms. As progress is made in meeting treatment goals, the physician may reduce their number of visits throughout a two- to three-week period.
Programs to accommodate prescribed levels of care are available during business hours Monday through Friday.
In addition to mental health care, clients receive a nutritious meal each day. For those without transportation, assistance can be coordinated by the Center for Senior Renewal. Specially equipped vans are available for those who need wheelchair access or other special care.
The cost of Center for Senior Renewal services is covered by Medicare Part B and most secondary commercial insurance health plans. Normal deductibles and co-pays apply.
