Medical Stabilization Service

Christian Hospital offers a medical stabilization service that provides support to adults who are currently using or experiencing acute withdrawal symptoms from drugs or alcohol.

Christian Hospital’s Medical Stabilization Service accepts adults currently experiencing active or withdrawal symptoms. Our program consists of a medically supervised hospital stay for inpatient stabilization. The inpatient stay includes the following:

  • Pre-Screening
  • Assessment
  • Admission
  • Medical Stabilization
  • Appropriate Discharge Planning

Medical Treatment Team

The services from Christian Hospital offer patients a fully qualified treatment team:

  • On-site intake coordinator
  • Attending physician
  • Nursing personnel

The medical treatment team will utilize a multidisciplinary team approach to ensure that each person receives the attention necessary for safe medical stabilization in the hospital.

Admission Process

Upon admission to the hospital for medical stabilization, an assessment of the patient’s essential needs are conducted. These assessments include a medical history, a physical, a complete laboratory workup and a nursing assessment. This pre-screening process will enable the patient to be admitted in conjunction with a personalized plan for treatment.

Patients under the influence of chemical substances, and are considered medically unstable, will be closely observed and stabilized. Christian Hospital accepts patients who are experiencing acute withdrawal symptoms from the cessation of use of certain substances, in conjunction with other related health issues.

The diagnosis of need for inpatient admission can only be made by a licensed physician. Most insurance plans accept the service. Length of stay is 3-7 days determined by the physician's treatment plan.

Medically Assisted Withdrawal

Christian Hospital’s Medical Stabilization Service is intended to help medically treat individuals who are experiencing withdrawal issues from drugs and alcohol, so patients can begin their recovery.

Following the inpatient stabilization, discharge planning occurs, and in most cases, the patients are referred to an appropriate outpatient treatment program to prevent relapse.
