What is Pulmonary Rehabilitation?
Pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) is an outpatient rehab program to help patients manage their ongoing breathing problems including COPD, cystic fibrosis, sarcoidosis and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.
Patients are taught how to manage their disease, breathing techniques, energy conservation and supervised exercise reconditioning.
The Breathease Program at Christian Hospital is customized based on the needs of the patient. Patients must obtain a physician referral to enter the program.
Patients with the following conditions can benefit from Pulmonary Rehab:
- Pulmonary hypertension
- Chronic bronchitis
- Interstitial lung disease: (sarcoidosis, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis)
- Cystic fibrosis
- Lung cancer
- Rheumatoid pulmonary disease
