The Christian Hospital Cancer Care Center has been awarded the highest level of accreditation achievable: a three-year accreditation with commendation as a Community Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Program. The American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer awards the accreditations based on on-site surveys.

"This accreditation signifies that the highest quality of cancer care is provided at Christian Hospital," says Timothy Rearden, MD, medical director of the Christian Hospital Cancer Care Center. "Only one in four hospitals treating cancer receives this special approval. It recognizes the quality of our comprehensive cancer program and the commitment of our staff and physicians to ensure patients have access to the latest resources to diagnose and treat cancer."

Cancer Care
Our cancer specialists provide compassionate care to patients and the needed support to their families. The doctors and staff recognize that such a diagnosis can be a frightening experience, and are here to help every step of the way. The Cancer Care Center’s program utilizes various resources to help s patients and their families successfully cope with the treatment and emotional issues of a cancer diagnosis.

Credentials
  • Christian Hospital participates with the National Cancer Institute in the research and clinical testing of new cancer therapies, ensuring our patients have access to the very latest treatments
  • Christian Hospital contributes to a national tumor registry, which captures the history, diagnosis, treatment and disease status for each cancer diagnosis or treatment; the information evaluates patient care, documents treatment trends and determines survival statistics.
    • Registry is managed by two full-time, certified cancer registrars 
    • Registry procedures also were extensively reviewed during our 2009 American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer survey, and met or exceeded requirements, resulting in a three-year cancer program approval
  • As a member of BJC HealthCare, the Cancer Care Center participates in leading-edge research performed at the Washington University School of Medicine
