Volunteers Make a World of Difference
VolunteersChristian Hospital and Northwest HealthCare offer a variety of opportunities for volunteers wishing to donate their time and talents to benefit patient care. Without the contributions of our dedicated volunteers, our mission of helping people enjoy life by improving their health would not be carried out as smoothly. In just one year, volunteers gave more that 60,000 hours of service.

Volunteers are eligible for special benefits, such as discounts at the gift shop, cafeteria and pharmacy, and free flu shots (when available). Positions are available for scheduled commitments or on an "on-call" basis.

Adult Volunteer Program
Whether you desire to help others, meet the public or learn new skills, your contributions benefit the Hospital and the community. Adult volunteers use their clerical skills, personal communication talents and hobbies by choosing from a number of volunteer positions, including:

  • Answering Phones
  • Greeting Patients and Visitors
  • Staffing Information Desk
  • Staffing Resale and Consignment Shop
  • Typing
  • Visiting Patients

Junior Volunteer Program
Individuals 14-17 years old are invited to explore a career in health care while fulfilling their desire to help others by becoming Junior Volunteers. The Junior Volunteer program offers an opportunity to learn about Hospital services while providing an excellent setting for those needing to earn service hours for school, religious or civic groups. Junior Volunteers are encouraged to continue in the adult program after turning 18.

Why Be a Volunteer
It's not for fortune
It's not for fame
It's not for only personal gain
It's not just for love of fellowman
Or just lend a helping hand
It's not for medals worn with pride
It's for the feeling deep inside
Of helping others far and near
That makes you want to volunteer!
-Ann Myhre, Age 15
