Day Rehabilitation
For adults requiring more than one type of therapy due to multiple orthopedic trauma, stroke, joint replacement, spinal cord injuries, arthritis, cancer, post-surgical recovery, Parkinson's disease, Multiple Sclerosis or chronic obstructive pulmonary diseaseHours by Appointment
The Day Rehabilitation Center simulates the home environment with a laundry center, kitchen, dining area and bedroom. Ambulatory and functioning skills -- such as money management -- are improved with visits to grocery stores, library, malls, bowling alleys and parks (weather permitting). Patients have access to equipment at the Physical Therapy Gym. Transportation to and from the Day Rehabilitation Center in a 14-passenger, wheelchair-accessible van is available. Half-day and full-day programs are available.

Community Programs
Several programs are offered to the community; most are led by a licensed professional.
A physician release is required except for Arthritis Support Group.

For more information, call 314.953.6831.Arthritis Foundation Exercise Class -- A six-week exercise program for people with arthritis that increases joint flexibility, range of motion and muscle strength
Participants learn principles of joint protection, stress and pain management, and relaxation techniques to help control pain.Fee: $25
Class size: 10-20Arthritis Self-Help Course -- A six-week course for people with arthritis, fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis that educates about basic joint anatomy, medication, exercise, joint protection/energy conservation, stress and pain management, and relaxation techniques

Class size: 20Bone Up -- A six-week course that teaches people with osteoporosis about joint protection, body mechanisms and exercise

Class size: 20BREATHE -- A one-hour class that meets twice-weekly for six weeks to improve respiratory endurance, joint flexibility, muscle strength, balance, posture and coordination for patients with breathing limitations

An initial equipment orientation and ongoing supervision is provided.Fees:

- Christian Hospital employees and volunteers: $30 for first month; $20 for subsequent months
SHAPE: Senior Health And Physical Exercise -- A one-hour class for those 55 and older that meets twice-weekly for eight weeks to incorporate flexibility, strengthening and aerobic exercise to improve mobility, endurance and coordination

- Monday and Thursday, 1 p.m.-2 p.m.
- Tuesday and Thursday, 8:30 a.m.-9:30 a.m.

- The Day Rehabilitation Center simulates the home environment with a laundry center, kitchen, dining area and bedroom
- The Outpatient Center has access to the gym, which houses nearly two dozen pieces of aerobic and Eagle weight equipment; mats and tables
- Private treatment rooms are available for patients who require cervical or lumbar traction or who need more privacy
- Hip and arm whirlpools are available for wound patients
- Ground-floor access and convenient, designated parking are provided
Medicare and Insurance
Because we provide therapy services for Christian Hospital, we are not under the restrictions of the Medicare cap like some private, free-standing clinics are. We base our care on your need for skilled service rather than on imposed financial limitation. We accept most insurance.
Your First Appointment
Patients are required to have a prescription from a physician, podiatrist or dentist (for TMJ only). Please allow one hour for the initial visit to allow time for a detailed evaluation prior to treatment. Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your appointment time to register. Subsequent appointments are a half-hour in length.
