Find Confidence Again – Christian Hospital Has a Solution.

By: Denis Klinac    259 0

Erectile Dysfunction (ED). It’s a topic most men don’t want to talk about, whether they are experiencing ED or not. In fact, just one out of five men talk to a doctor about their ED.

“It’s a sensitive subject, embarrassing for the patient and often misunderstood,” says Arnold Bullock, MD, a Washington University physician and urologist at Christian Hospital. “Most men with ED remain sexually active, still involved in intimacy. The problem is that their erections are not of satisfactory quality for enjoyable intercourse.”

But according to Dr. Bullock, there’s an answer for men who are no longer confident in achieving an erection that’s adequate for satisfactory intercourse. ED undermines a man’s sexual confidence, but effective treatment is available to virtually all men with ED.

At Christian Hospital, Washington University physicians are successfully treating ED, even in men who can’t be helped by oral medications, such as Viagra. Among their wide range of treatment options is penile implant surgery. Christian Hospital performs more penile implants than any other hospital in Missouri. We do not perform the WAVE or injection of "stem cells" at Christian Hospital, for these procedures have a low success rate, are expensive and are not covered by any insurers.

Penile implants "fix the problem." It is a device implanted into the two chambers of the penis that normally inflate with blood. The implant's cylinders can be inflated with saline at will to create a full and rigid erection. They are typically recommended when the oral medications fail.

Penile implants have the highest satisfaction rate of all the ED treatments, for the implant is not obvious when naked, erections are rigid, erections are sustained for as long as desired, implants last for up to 15 years before an exchange and are covered by insurance. Dr. Bullock says they help restore intimacy and help maintain healthy relationships.

Any man can get ED. It’s a side effect of common conditions, such as diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, obesity and pelvic-level surgery (prostate, colon, spine). More than 50% of all men over the age of 40 have some degree of ED. Two-thirds of men with diabetes, for example, have ED.

Because ED is an underlying symptom of many health problems, the clinical  staff at Christian Hospital takes a proactive approach to getting patients to talk about ED.

Erectile Dysfunction (ED) is a condition that affects over 30 million U.S. men.
