Diversity and Culture
Christian Hospital is committed to exceptional care and service to our patients. We started this journey to integrate our healthcare practices and decisions with the voice of our patients and our community in the first iteration of a PFAC in the Cancer Care Center. We will be utilizing the best practices from that group (scheduling, agendas, invite letters, and other standard documents) to inform our Christian Hospital Overall PFAC moving forward. Christian Hospital strives to be continually recognized as a place where people want to work, physicians want to practice and patients want to come for their care. We promise to live by and will not compromise our core values of partnering with the patient, physician and family in providing care, earning each other’s trust, embracing change, teamwork, and financial responsibility. Our ICARE standards align directly to our vision and values, and our staff is dedicated to upholding these standards:
- Integrity - I will be positive, honest and committed to our mission.
- Compassion - I will provide exceptional service to patients, visitors and colleagues by listening and responding with empathy.
- Accountability - I will have a strong sense of commitment and ownership.
- Respect - I will treat all patients, visitors and colleagues with dignity and value their diverse cultures and backgrounds.
- Excellence - I will be committed to a culture of excellence.
The mission of the Patient Family Advisory Council, in conjunction with the Cultural Awareness Team (CAT) is to provide our staff with the tools they need to deliver safe, patient-centered, family focused, and culturally competent care. We are focused on creating and sustaining an equitable and inclusive environment that benefits us all as part of the Christian Hospital community.
Patient Family Advisory Council (PFAC)
A Patient Family Advisory Council (PFAC) partners patients and families with members of the healthcare team to provide guidance on how to improve the patient and family experience. As part of this PFAC process, patients and families are invited to serve on hospital committees to ensure that the consumer’s point of view, perspective, and experience are not only heard but also integrated into the service and quality improvements that are engineered to ensure high-quality, customer-centered care. Through their unique perspectives, patients and families will give input on issues that impact care, ensuring that the next patient or family member’s journey is easier.
Cultural Awareness Team (CAT)
Christian Hospital’s Cultural Awareness Team (CAT) has been chartered to strengthen the hospital’s efforts to be continually recognized as a place where people want to work, physicians want to practice and patients want to come for their care. The CAT’s mission is to provide our staff with the tools they need to deliver safe, patient-centered, family-focused, and culturally competent care. The CAT is focused on creating and sustaining an equitable and inclusive environment that benefits us all as part of the Christian Hospital community.
