Lobular carcinoma in Situ (LCIS)

Lobular carcinoma in Situ (LCIS) is a rare condition in which abnormal cells are present in the lobules or milk glands of the breast but are not yet cancerous. Being diagnosed with LCIS increases your risk of developing invasive breast cancer.

LCIS is usually diagnosed during a breast biopsy and doesn’t appear on a mammogram. If a person has LCIS, the doctor may suggest regular breast cancer screenings and treatments to reduce your risk of developing breast cancer.

The Breast Health Center at Christian Hospital provides the latest technology for diagnosis and treatment of LCIS. Our breast cancer physicians and breast surgeons are experienced in all types of breast cancer and can provide a customized treatment plan for you.
