Fall Prevention Program

According to the CDC, falls are the leading cause of injury-related death in those over the age of 65. The fall prevention program at Christian Hospital is designed for those at risk for falls or those who have a history of falls, regardless of the cause.

Patients are evaluated for lower extremity strength, flexibility, balance, posture and gait in an attempt to find the cause for frequent falls. Once a cause is identified, an individualized treatment program is developed.

The ultimate goal of the fall prevention program is to break the cycle of fear that occurs with falling. The fear of falling often leads to inactivity and loss of confidence which can cause loss of mobility.
