da Vinci-S HD Surgical System

 da Vinci at Christian Hospital

Benefits of the da Vinci Surgical System:

  • Smaller incisions
  • Minimal blood loss
  • Less post-operative pain
  • Shorter hospital stay
  • Faster recovery time

Using the robotic da Vinci Surgical System, Christian Hospital surgeons can perform operations through small incisions in the patient’s body for procedures that once demanded open surgery. The amazing technology provides surgeons with greater precision and control, and gives them access to hard-to-reach, hard-to-see internal areas of the body.

How it works:

The da Vinci robot has four “arms.” One arm holds a high-definition endoscope (camera). The other three arms control miniaturized surgical instruments that correspond to incisions in the patient’s body. The surgeon, who is seated at a console, remotely inserts the camera and surgical instruments into the patient’s body, and then moves them using hand controls and foot pedals.

Procedures using the da Vinci Surgical System include:

  • Cardiac procedures
  • Gynecology procedures
  • Colorectal procedures
  • Ears, Nose and Throat procedures
  • Urology procedures, including prostatectomies
  • Nephrology (kidney) procedures, such as nephroureterectomies
  • Thoracic surgery procedures, such as pulmonary lobectomies and mediastinal tumor resections

The da Vinci-S HD Surgical System consists of:

  1. da Vinci Surgery System at Christian Hospital The surgeon console, which includes a video screen, hand controls and foot pedals
  2. The bedside cart, equipped with four robotic arms
  3. The vision tower, which houses the monitor
