Advanced Medical Life Support (AMLS)

Advanced Medical Life Support (AMLS) is the gold standard of education for emergency medical assessment and treatment. Endorsed by the National Association of EMS Physicians, AMLS emphasizes the use of the AMLS Assessment Pathway, a systematic tool for assessing and managing common medical conditions with urgent accuracy.
Students learn to recognize and manage common medical crises through realistic case-based scenarios that challenge students to apply their knowledge to highly critical patients. The course emphasizes the use of scene size-up, history, interactive group discussion on potential treatment strategies, and physical exam to systematically rule out and consider possibilities and probabilities in treating patients’ medical crises. AMLS Refresher

AMLS refresher course is for individuals who have successfully completed the respective AMLS provider course within the past four years. Upon course completion, you will receive an updated AMLS provider certificate and card.
Critical Care Paramedic

The Critical Care Paramedic Course is intended for experienced EMT-P’s & RN’s who frequently encounter critically ill patients, or who wish to enhance their knowledge of critical care transport. This intensive course provides participants the foundation of managing Critical Care Transports for the experienced and practicing Paramedics. The curriculum has been reviewed and validated and qualifies successful participants to sit for the CCP-C Exam. Successful participants earn a certificate of completion from Univ. of Iowa Health Care Systems and CEUs.
Emergency Medical Technician-Basic

The Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (EMT-B) course is designed for students interested in providing patient care to their community. This is the entry-level course required to work on an ambulance. This course consists of classroom hours as well as hands-on skills to prepare the student for work as an EMT-B. Clinical hours will be completed on an ambulance through Christian Hospital EMS to provide experience and allow the student to show proficiency in their skills before course completion. EMT-B skills consist of the ability to obtain a patient assessment, vital signs, establishing an airway, bleeding control, wound care, splinting, electrical defibrillation, childbirth, and much more. Completion of the National Registry (NREMT) practical exam and computer exam is required before receiving a Missouri EMT-B license.
EMT-Basic Refresher

Emergency Pediatric Care (EPC)

Emergency Pediatric Care (EPC) provides an advanced and in-depth scientific understanding of the pathophysiology of the most common pediatric emergency issues and stresses critical thinking skills to help practitioners make the best decisions for their pediatric patients. Upon completion of this course, you will receive an EPC provider certificate and card.
Instructor Methodology

The Instructor Methodology course is designed to teach the art and science behind becoming an EMS instructor. This course follows the National Standard Curriculum and is designed for EMS professionals interested in developing advanced knowledge to become a competent Instructor. The course dives into information on Instructor Roles and Responsibilities, The Adult Learner, Creating an Effective Learning Environment, Developing and following Objectives, Instructional Strategies and Methods, and much more. After course completion, you will receive a 40-hour Instructor Certificate recognized by the state of Missouri.
Mobile Integrated Healthcare

A Mobile Integrated Health (MIH) program will seek out and respond to identified health and social needs in area communities, ultimately improving the quality of life of our patients. This ever-evolving role of an Advanced Practice Paramedic (APP) will include outreach, wellness, health screening assessments, health education, immunizations and disease management, including a thorough understanding of monitoring diabetes and congestive heart failure, along with other chronic diseases.
This course will identify methods and medications used to treat these diseases. The course will also enable recognition of mental health issues and provide information on the existing mental health care system. You will explore wound care, safety programs, patient advocacy, recognition of problem areas and connection to needed resources.
We will stress the importance of working with the patient support system to maintain and encourage patient education and compliance. The APP will work with the patients’ ancillary staff and existing services (ex: home health, social workers, primary care providers, and case managers). Upon completion of this course, you will be proficient and feel confident in providing services as an Advanced Practice Paramedic.
Paramedic I

In this semester, the student will first focus on anatomy and physiology, followed by an introduction to paramedic science. Topics covered include; EMS systems, drug calculations, public health, pharmacology, emergency medications, medication administration, and much more. This course is a full semester with in-depth lab time.
Paramedic Clinical I
(Clinical Rotations; must be enrolled in Paramedic I)
This clinical rotation is taken in conjunction with Paramedic I. The student will spend their time in the emergency department of local hospitals learning skills such as patient movement, patient assessment, IV placement, intramuscular injections, and medication administration.
Paramedic II

Part two of a two-semester program that spans a year
Prerequisites: Pass Paramedic I
$2493.75 due at the start of class; balance due by end of class.
In this second semester, the student will focus on treating emergency medical problems, pathophysiology, cardiology, pulmonology, endocrinology, and learn about many other topics. In this semester, the student will also earn their ACLS, PHTLS and EPC certifications.
Paramedic Clinical II
(Clinical Rotations; must be enrolled in Paramedic II)
This clinical rotation is done primarily on the ambulance with some time spent in specialty departments. The student will have the opportunity to learn from some of the best EMS agencies in the area. This clinical rotation is done in conjunction with Paramedic II. Once all other clinical requirements are met, the student will begin team leads.
Paramedic Refresher

Prerequisites: Completion of a state paramedic course
The Paramedic refresher course can be used to educate current Paramedics (48 CEUs) or for Paramedics in training that plan to take the National Registry computer exam. This course will prepare individuals for the National Registry (NR) Exam by providing 40 hours of classroom paramedic training and 8 hours of hands-on skills. The course can also be taken to obtain your mandatory and flexible core hours needed to recertify your NREMT-P certification. The course was developed around National Registry testing questions and gives the student the “need to know” material with multiple handouts to refer to after course completion. Upon course completion, you will receive a certificate and 48 continuing education units.
Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS)

Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) is the premier education program globally for prehospital emergency trauma, offering a unique approach to trauma care through critical thinking to address multi-system trauma for the best patient care. PHTLS is developed in cooperation with the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma. It is the preferred trauma program for the United States Armed Forces. Upon completion of this course, you will receive a PHTLS provider certificate and card.

Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC)

Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) teaches EMS practitioners and other prehospital providers how to respond to and care for patients in a civilian tactical environment. It is designed to decrease preventable deaths in a tactical situation is Endorsed by the American College of Surgeons, meets the guidelines established by the Committee on TECC and the updated National Tactical Emergency Medical Support Competency Domains. This course is accredited by CAPCE and recognized by NREMT.
